Successful hosting of “Breast Cancer: Awareness can Save Life” , a webinar.

Hope this email finds you well. On behalf of Green University Language Center, I would like to inform you all that the Language Centre and Women’s Empowerment Forum of Green University of Bangladesh have successfully hosted a Webinar titled “Breast Cancer: Awareness can Save Life” on November 11, 2021 (4;00p.m.- 5:00 p.m.). The session was conducted by   Dr. Tahmina Akter, MBBS, BCS (Health) M.phil (Physiology) Dhaka Medical College, as the key speaker. Ms. Serajum Munira, Assistant Professor, Department of English, and the Director of Green University Language Center chaired the session.

Breast cancer is the most commonly occurring cancer in women and the second most common cancer overall, so awareness about the topic is of paramount importance. Dr. Tahmina Akter , in her very informative session, highlighted the risk factors, early signs and notable symptoms, self and clinical examination process, and finally the prevention methods and treatment options. Dr. Tahmina specially put emphasis on the need for mass participation to raise awareness about this deadly disease.

The webinar was attended by the faculty members of GULC and notably by many eager students, both female and male.

Following the session, there was a lively Q&A session where Dr. Tahmina answered some frequently asked questions from the audience.  The keynote speaker was pleasantly surprised by the eagerness of the audience to go past the stigma associated with the topic.
