Successful online discussion on “Modern Bengali Poetry” (আধুনিক বাংলা কবিতা)

Green University Language Center (GULC) has hosted a successful online discussion on “Modern Bengali Poetry” (আধুনিক বাংলা কবিতা), on December 14 at 6:30 pm via Zoom.

The prime purpose of this session was to introduce students of Green University of Bangladesh (GUB) to numerous prominent Bengali poets and their notable creations. More than 100 students of various educational levels of the university attended the discussion displaying their sheer enthusiasm. Md. Saiful Islam (Registrar, GUB) besides being the chief guest of the session, also actively participated in the discussion along with Dr. Afzal Hossain Khan (Director, GUB Students Affairs) and Md. Shamim Mondol (Assistant Professor, Department of English).

The chief discussant of the event was Dr. Manikul Islam (Associate Professor, Department of Bangla) from Rajshahi University, who led the main discussion session on aspects of modern Bangla poetry referring to the poets as well. The event started with a welcome speech from Dr. Afzal Hossain Khan, followed by informative discussions from other significant speakers. All of the speakers stated the necessity of such a session on Bangla Literature.

This scholarly discussion of almost 2 hours came to an end with a vote of thanks from the chair of the session and the Director of GULC, Ms. Serajum Munira. However, this successful closure enhanced GULC’s possibility of arranging other scholarly activities in the upcoming days.
