Successful Completion of Webinar on Folk Literature of Bangladesh, Mother Language Fest 2022 at GUB

In line with the spirit of International Mother Language day and to honor the struggles and sacrifices of our fearless martyrs, Mother Language Fest 2022 is being organized by the Language Center, Green University of Bangladesh, from 21 February. The sixth event of the Mother Language Fest 2022, a webinar on folk literature of Bangladesh took place on 1 March, 2022 at 6.30 PM on zoom. Dr. Aminur Rahman Sultan, honorable Deputy Director of Bangla Academy, was the key note speaker of this webinar. This virtual event started with a welcome speech by Dr. Md. Afzal Hossain Khan, Assistant Professor, Department of Journalism & Media Communication, GUB. Then the key note speaker Dr. Sultan discussed different aspects and opportunities of rich folk tradition and folk literature of Bangladesh. After the discussion, a question answer session took place and Dr. Sultan replied to audiences’ queries. Ms. Sumaiya Afreen, Lecturer, Department of English and GULC, hosted the whole event. Finally, Ms. Serajum Munira, honorable Director, GULC ended the ceremony with vote of thanks and concluding remarks.

A number of events took place in this Mother Language Fest 2022 which include: A competition on regional dialects, presentation by the students of various indigenous languages, international seminar on “Indigenous Languages in a Globalizing World: Preservation & Revitalization”, “Deepabali – An International Student Symposium on Language, Literature and Culture (jointly with Sidho-Kanho-Birsha University, India) and an Intra-university quiz competition on Bangla spelling. The Mother Language Fest 2022 will end with a prize and certificate giving ceremony later this month.
