Successful Completion of the Event “ব্যবহারিক বাংলা ও উচ্চশিক্ষা কার্যক্রমে বাংলা ভাষার ব্যবহার বিষয়ে ২ দিন ব্যাপী কর্মসূচী”

The GED Unit of Green University Language Center (GULC) successfully organized the event “ব্যবহারিক বাংলা ও উচ্চশিক্ষা কার্যক্রমে বাংলা ভাষার ব্যবহার বিষয়ে ২ দিন ব্যাপী কর্মসূচী“ that was held on 3rd January (Tuesday) and 4^th January (Wednesday), 2023 accordingly.

Language is not only a medium of communication, language is culture. Bengali language connects us with that culture and roots. 20 crore people of the world practice Bengali language, which is a matter of pride for us. Green University Language Center is always engaged in working to promote Bengali language and culture in the educational programs of the University. At the same time, the Language Center encourages diversity, that’s why it’s working with English, Japanese and Chinese languages and cultures. These two days programs are considered as significant efforts to advance that work.

On the first day, the event titled ব্যবহারিক বাংলা বিষয়ক কর্মশালা was held at 4:00pm, in A-building, room no-302. This workshop was conducted by two faculty members, Rabbi Islam Rasel, lecturer of Bangla language and Laboni Akter, lecturer of Bangla language respectively. Dr. Serajum Munira, Director, Green University Language Centre, Green University ornamented the session as a chief guest. Respected sir Dr. Mohammad Afzal Hossain, Assistant Professor, Department of Journalism and Media Communication also glorified the workshop by his presence and welcome speech. Notable faculty members also attended the workshop.

The event was to disseminate the glorious background and present status of Bangla language.   among the students of GUB. In this workshop, the students are given all directions regarding the practical use of Bengali language. A good number of participants from different departments of Green University of Bangladesh, participated in the event.

The second day (January 4, 2023), a seminar, titled ‘উচ্চশিক্ষা কার্যক্রমে বাংলা ভাষা ও সাহিত্যের গুরুত্ব ও প্রাসঙ্গিকতা ‘ was held. The seminar was held at 3 PM in the ‘A’ Building room No. 302. To glorify this seminar, Professor Dr. Mohammad Azam who is a prominent Writer, Thinker and respected faculty member of the Department of Bangla, University of Dhaka, was invited as the chief guest and keynote speaker of the seminar.

Honorable Professor Dr. Farhana Helal Mehtab, Dean, Faculty of Law and Arts and Social Sciences, Green University of Bangladesh, glorified the session as special guest. Dr. Serajum Munira, Director, Green University Language Centre, Green University presided over the seminar. Other respected faculty members of GULC also attended the session.

In this seminar, there was an enlightening discussion about the use and necessity of Bengali language and literature in the field of higher education. Students of different departments of Green University participated in the seminar. A question-and-answer session was also held at the end of the keynote speaker’s speech. The spontaneous participation of the students was observed in this phase. Above all, the language center has made one of the efforts to achieve the excellence of the Bengali language through incredible homely arrangements.

Finally, Dr. Serajum Munira, Assistant Professor, the Director of GULC ended the ceremony with thanks and concluding remarks.
