CLCS held Photo Exhibition on Freedom through the Eyes of Youth (তারুণ্যের চোখে স্বাধীনতা): The Photographic Tale
A Photo Exhibition & Competition titled “Freedom through the Eyes of Youth (তারুণ্যের চোখে স্বাধীনতা): The Photographic Tale” organized by the Center for Language and Cultural Studies (CLCS) was successfully arranged on 20 June 2023 at 3:00 PM in the IQAC Auditorium, City Campus, Green University of Bangladesh.
Accompanied by a spirit of youthful vigor, the photo exhibition & competition was made up of a total of 125 groups, 600 students from 29 batches participated in this event featuring various photographs clicked by the students. The photographs comprise the exhibition, which portrays the students’ concept of freedom and how they see it in their day-to-day life. It was such a heartfelt, elevating, and robust event for all the participants and guests!!

From 1971 to 2023, we have passed 51 years of our motherland’s liberation. During this long period of time, multidimensional success has come into our national lifespan. We need to encompass our youth to advance our nation’s achievement with the history of the great liberation war and independence. For that purpose, the Center for Language and Cultural Studies (CLCS), organized a Photo Exhibition & Competition titled “Freedom through the Eyes of Youth (তারুণ্যের চোখে স্বাধীনতা): The Photographic Tale” with the participation of the students of the Functional Bengali course. This photography exhibition is basically a part of the new assessment method, KSA Test 2. The purpose of the KSA test is primarily to judge the knowledge, skill, and attitude of the students coming out of the conventional assessment system. In order to meet the above-mentioned purpose, the photography exhibition was organized. Fundamentally, participants captured the photographs with their cell phones, keeping in mind the theme of the metaphors of freedom from their surroundings with enthralling excellence!
Our supreme guardians, Honorable Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Golam Samdani Fakir, Honorable Dean, Faculty of Law and Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Farhana Helal Mehtab enunciated their intuition about the independence, liberation war, and freedom of today’s Bangladesh. Along with Hon’ble VC sir, The Chairperson of the Department of English, Prof. Dr. M. Shahidullah, and the Chairperson of the Department of Journalism & Mass Communication, Dr. Md. Aliur Rahman from the Green University of Bangladesh instated the exhibition with a short ribbon-cutting ceremony. After the inauguration, the guests and the students went around the auditorium and perceived the photos which showcase the luminescence of our youth’s digital frame!! While the guests were exploring the photos, the students explained how their clicked photos were accompanied by the cardinal crux of the exhibition. It was truly a day to be penned in the Red Letter with massive spectators as this was the last event in our beloved City Campus arranged by our CLCS family!!

Prof. Dr. Md. Golam Samdani Fakir, Honorable Vice-Chancellor, applauded the students for their sheer efforts and shared his thought-provoking words of wisdom with the audience. Addressing as Chief Guest, Hon’ble VC sir said that the way students portrayed the theme of freedom was exceedingly valued. Consistent with our guests, Dr. Md. Aliur Rahman, and Prof. Dr. M. Shahidullah, all of the attendees cherished this initiative to actively involve the students in the history of the Liberation War and the freedom of our beloved Bangladesh. The program was hosted by Ms. Laboni Akter, Lecturer, Center for Language and Cultural Studies.
After that, the final result of the competition was announced. In the judging panel of this photography competition, there were three respective judges— Dr. Mohammad Afzal Hossain Khan, Assistant Professor, Department of Journalism and Media Communication, Md. Rasel Kabir, Assistant Professor, Center for Language and Cultural Studies, Ms. Laboni Akter, Lecturer, Center for Language and Cultural Studies. A group of four students, Airin Sultana Nishi (ID-221002308), Md. Abu Bakkar Siddik Fahim (ID- 221002311), Md. Jahid Hasan Jitu (ID- 221002248) and Iftekhar Zaman Fahim (ID-221002266) from the Department of CSE, D1 section won the first prize. The second and third positions were also from the Department of CSE, D3, and D4 sections respectively.
The program came to an end with a galvanic vote of thanks to all by our respected Dr. Serajum Munira, Associate Professor, Department of English and Director, Center for Language and Cultural Studies, Green University of Bangladesh.
