Successful Completion of “বাংলার বিলুপ্তপ্রায় ভাষা ও সংস্কৃতি বিষয়ক আন্তর্জাতিক সেমিনার”: 3rd Mother Language Fest

In an effort to commemorate 21 February as the International Mother Language Day, Center for Language and Cultural Studies, Green University of Bangladesh, under the guidance of the competent authority has successfully hosted the “International Mother Language Fest” for the third time from February 21 to March 8, 2023. As the sixth event of the fest, an international seminar titled “বাংলার বিলুপ্তপ্রায় ভাষা ও সংস্কৃতি” or “Endangered Language and Culture of Bangladesh” was successfully arranged on 28 February, 2023 at 7:00 pm via Zoom.

Prof. Dr. Apurva Saha, Sidho-Kanho-Virsa University, Purulia, West Bengal, India, was the keynote speaker in the event. Prof. Dr. Md. Shahidullah, Chairman, Department of English, Green University of Bangladesh, was the chief guest of the event. Prof. K. M. Wazed Kabir, Proctor and Professor, Department of English, Green University of Bangladesh, also graced the event as the guest of honor.

The event was hosted by Mr. Tamal Nag, Lecturer, Center for Language and Cultural Studies, Green University of Bangladesh. Dr. Serajum Munira, Associate Professor, Department of English and Director, Center for Language and Cultural Studies, Green University of Bangladesh graced the event with her presence and enriching welcome speech. The guest of honor Prof. K. M. Wazed Kabir, Proctor and Professor, Department of English, Green University of Bangladesh, presented a brief discussion on the endangered languages throughout the world. Later on, the keynote speaker, Prof. Dr. Apurva Saha, Sidho-Kanho-Virsa University, Purulia, West Bengal, India, provided an explanatory power point presentation on the central topic of the event.

After the presentation by the keynote speaker, there was an open forum for question-answers from the audience. A number of students from different departments of Green University of Bangladesh raised various questions which the keynote speaker satisfied with his valuable and informative explanations. Finally, the chief guest, Prof. Dr. Md. Shahidullah, Chairman, Department of English, Green University of Bangladesh, shared his reflection on the event as well as his experience with different minor language varieties and cultures in Bangladesh.
