We are delighted to share with you that Green University Language Center (GULC) has collaboratively arranged a prose reading session followed by an intense quiz competition with Green University Women Empowerment Forum, entitled “Rokeya Day 2021: Prose Reading and Quiz Competition” (রোকেয়া দিবস ২০২১ঃ প্রবন্ধপাঠ ও কুইজ প্রতিযোগিতা), on December 13 at 6:30 in the evening, using the online platform Zoom and the game-based learning platform Kahoot! to celebrate Rokeya Day 2021 with great zeal.

The main objective to organize this one of its kind competition was to enhance the students’ knowledge and interest in Begum Rokeya and her works and to acknowledge the significance of Rokeya Day. More than 125 students of various educational levels of Green University of Bangladesh (GUB) registered for the competition. Among them, 78 students succeeded to enroll in the quiz competition. After a nail-biting Kahoot round, Md. Alifujjaman Anik from the Department of English aced the competition. GULC has arranged special gifts for the top 10 contenders.

Brilliantly anchored by a GUB student Ms. Mahshiat Tahsin (Department of CSE), the exciting event started with the presentation of a short documentary on Begum Rokeya. Later on, an impressive live reading session of সুগৃহিনী, well-acclaimed prose of Begum Rokeya, was carried on. Immediately after this, a quiz competition based on the aforementioned prose started. Students attended the program with great enthusiasm. Faculty members from different departments of GUB also graced the event with their inspiring presence.

The informative speeches of the Women Empowerment Forum’s two Advisory Committee members – Ms. Rumana Ferdouse (Assistant Professor, GBS) and Ms. Umme Ruman (Assistant Professor, CSE) stated the significance of Begum Rokeya and Rokeya Day in Bangladeshi women’s ways of life. This highly interactive event came to an end with a vote of thanks from Ms. Serajum Munira, the Director of GULC.
