Webinar on “History of the arrival of Muslims in Bengal: A Theoretical Discussion”

Green University Language Center (GULC) has successfully hosted an informative webinar entitled “History of the arrival of Muslims in Bengal: A Theoretical Discussion” on April 27, 2021, using the online platform Zoom. More than 150 students who are on various educational levels at the Green University of Bangladesh have graced the webinar with their active participation. Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Razzaque, Honorable Pro VC of Green University of Bangladesh (GUB) has adorned the session with his presence as the honorable chief guest while Prof. Dr. Golam Ahmed Faruqui, Dean (Faculty of Business Studies) has also been present as the special guest. As the keynote speaker of the session, a Commonwealth scholar Md. Didarul Islam (Assistant Professor, Department of World religions and Culture, University of Dhaka) has enlightened everyone with his valuable lecture straight from the United Kingdom where he is a PhD researcher at the University of Leeds.
With an aim to enhance the students’ knowledge about the history of their own country and culture, Green University of Bangladesh has arranged this one of its kind events. At the very beginning, both of the guests of the session have emphasized the necessity of such a thorough discussion to advance towards a secular community. The keynote speaker with his vibrant but lucid presentation has enchanted the audience throughout the webinar. The webinar has focused on various interesting arenas like the Muslim’s arrival in ancient Bengal and its effects, the harmonious coexistence of religions, compassionate religious conversion, the mutual dependence of politics and religion in ancient Bengal, etc.
